Tips to Avoid Burn-out

Given the demands of COVID-19, you may have less time to exercise in the day due to taking care of family, home-schooling or any other numerous reasons.

Here are a few tips to avoid burn-out:

  1. Breaks

    • You know that moment when you are trying to force an idea to come through? That is a perfect moment to get up and give yourself a break. Some much-needed change of perspective can help for your mind to connect new thoughts and ideas!

    • When your body or mind needs a break, honor it. It doesn’t have to be 30 minutes, even a 1-minute break to get up and stretch your legs, go to the bathroom or get some much needed water count!

2. Movement

  • Sure, the last thing that is on your mind when there isn’t enough time in the day is movement, so try incorporating it into your workday!

  • Create a standing desk, walk during a conference call, or try out some postures you can do at your desk on my blog at andreahuntyoga.com/blog.

  • Better yet, ask your workplace to implement a workplace wellness program that includes yoga! Companies that support employees well-being (even if virtually) can reduce employee turnover by reducing stress and avoiding burn-out.

3. Rest

  • Working past the point of exhaustion is not good for you and it doesn’t allow you to produce the best work either.

  • There is only so much time in the day so plan out your day ahead and try to make it as realistic as possible so you can unplug at an appropriate time to rest and rejuvenate your body.

  • Try to allow yourself to have some time away from screens. You can start and end your day without your phone or computer and make these moments times of rest instead of being in work-mode.
