Chair Yoga

3 Quick yoga postures that you can do while sitting!

  1. Seated twist

    • This is a great posture that helps to relieve tension in the low back and shoulders.

    • You don’t have to twist very far to feel the benefits here.

    • This is a great posture to do especially after eating because it helps to stimulate digestion!

2. Seated cat/ cow

This seated variation of Cat/ Cow helps to open the chest and back, including the shoulders.

Cat Pose

  • Press your hands onto your knees.

  • Tilt your chin upward towards the sky.

  • Pull your chest forward while pinching your shoulders together behind you.

Cow Pose

  • Press your hands onto your knees.

  • Tuck your chin inward towards your chest.

  • Press your spine back.

3. Chest opener

Opens the muscles in the chest and supports good posture.

  • Interlace your hands together behind you and extend your hands up towards the sky as you pull your chest closer towards your thighs.

  • For a more advanced version, try to keep your palms together to touch.

  • For a more accessible/ gentle version, you can omit interlacing your hands, and instead you can grab for opposite forearms.
